Synopsis:
Park Hae-Young (Lee Je-Hoon) works as a criminal profiler and is also a police lieutenant. Even though he is a cop, he doesn’t trust cops due to his own experience. Back in 2000, when Hae-Young was in elementary school, his classmate, Yoon-Jung was kidnapped and later found dead. Hae-Young saw a woman taking Yoon-Jung from school that day, but the police announced that the suspect was a man. Hae-Young even went to the police station and told the police officers that he saw the kidnapper and she was a woman. The police officers though didn’t pay attention to him. The killer was never caught and her case remains unsolved to this day. Earlier in 1999, his older brother, Sun-Woo, was victimized and accused of being the mastermind behind the rape of a female student by a gang of elite students at his school. He felt there was something wrong with his brother’s case, but could not find the cause and also unresolved until this day.

Hae-Young meets a reporter at a cafe to reveal bombshells about a celebrity scandal, using his ability to profile someone. Meanwhile, veteran detective Cha Soo-Hyun (Kim Hye-Soo) is at the cafe staking out the meeting, unaware that Hae-Young is a cop. She arrests Hae-Young for stalking celebrities. While leaving the police station (the same police station he went to as a kid), Hae-Young hears someone talking to him. He looks around to find a walkie-talkie. The man who is talking to Hae-Young is Detective Lee Jae-Han (Cho Jin-Woong). The detective though is from the year 2000 and he is investigating the disappearance of Hae-Young’s elementary school classmate. Hae-Young and Detective Jae-Han begin to communicate via the walkie-talkie. Later, Hae-Young and Soo-Hyun become teammate, they investigate the police cold cases, which previous cases that have not been resolved until now. Then, Hae-Young and Jae-Han try to solve those cold cases together, even though they live in different times.

Beberapa hal yang bisa diambil dari Signal ini adalah:
1. Masa lalu dapat mempengaruhi masa depan. Apa yang telah dilalui di masa lalu dan hari ini dapat mempengaruhi masa depan. Keputusan-keputusan hari ini akan menentukan nasib di masa depan. Apa yang diusahakan hari ini bisa jadi akan berdampak besar suatu saat. Who knows? Kebaikan kecil yang dilakukan mungkin adalah sesuatu yang sangat berarti bagi orang lain.
2. Berusahalah untuk selalu bersikap tenang. Tidak jarang ini adalah perbedaan tipis antara mereka yang berhasil dan tidak. Pada sikap yang tenang di tambah kemampuan berpikir dengan jernih, terdapat solusi atas apa yang dihadapi.
3. Support system itu sangat penting. Mau jadi orang yang jahat ataupun baik haruslah ada support system atau backing. Backing berupa kekuatan dari relasi, baik itu relasi kekuasaan, harta, maupun kekuatan fisik. Tapi dibalik itu semua yang paling utama ialah support dari relasi yang punya kesamaan tujuan dan visi. Mereka yang nantinya tidak akan mengkhianati.
4. Cobalah sesekali berganti sudut pandang. Tidak jarang untuk memahami bagaimana sesuatu terjadi dibutuhkan sudut pandang yang berbeda. Seperti bagaimana seorang profiler menganalisa perilaku kriminal, mereka berusaha berpikir sebagaimana pelaku berpikir. Dari sana mereka dapat sedikit memahami why mereka melakukan itu.

Overall, kdrama ini sangat recommended, terutama bagi penyuka genre detective-criminal. Park Hae-Young selaku criminal profiler menjelaskan pemikiran dan analisanya dengan lumayan detil, tidak ujug-ujug melabeli seseorang dengan sifat yang begini dan begitu, tapi ada penjelasannya.
